TWSK (The Woodlands Shotokan Karate-Do) is a member of the SKI-USF (Shotokan Karate-Do International-U. F. Federation) which is one the national organizations of SKIF (Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation - Japan) the world governing Federation.
Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa is the founder of SKIF worldwide and is a well-known legend in the world karate community. Sensei Kanazawa is a 10th Degree black belt and has earned the title of Soke (Grand Master). Sensei Kanazawa is one of the last direct students of the Master Gichin Funakoshi the founder of modern-day Shotokan Karate-do. Sensei Kanazawa 's experience in karate spans an era of eight decades in which he has achieved many milestones from his beginnings as a student of Master Funakoshi, winning All Japan Championship JKA, through to the formation of his karate organization (SKIF) which has become the largest Shotokan Karate organization in the world. Sensei Jonathan Kwok is the chief instructor of SKI-USF the national body of the United States. Sensei Kwok is a world-recognized instructor for SKIF (Japan) for many years and brings a wealth of experience with him to the United States. He was the former chief instructor for Southeast Asia (traveling to Sri Lanka, Philippines, Pakistan to mention a few ) from 1988- 1995 before moving to the United States to take over as chief instructor for SKI-USF.
