In partnership with The Woodlands Shotokan Dojo, we will be teaching classes in traditional Japanese Karate. This will include instruction in SKIF Shotokan Karate, Martial Arts History, Japanese culture, and traditions. The students will be taught the standard Shotokan Karate International Federation (SKIF) Curriculum. This will include Self Defence and Fitness thru Japanese karate.
Classes will consist of learning the basics of karate movement (Kihon), the study of traditions forms (Kata), and sparring techniques (Kumite):
- Kihon teaches the student to move correctly and efficiently.
- Kata is used to teaching the use of combinations and pass the knowledge of the Shotokan style and techniques.
- Kumite is taught in a structured fashion to ensure the students master free sparring and self-control.
Parents and adults are welcome and encouraged to enroll in the classes and learn along with the children
The West Woodlands Shotokan Karate Dojo is teaching a program of Japanese Karate, complete with the traditions, customs, and curriculum used by the Shotokan Karate International Federation (SKIF) in Japan.
Students are expected to master Japanese karate terminology, etiquette, and become knowledgeable about the history of Karate and other martial arts.
